Country Music Star Passes Away

Kinky Friedman, the outspoken country singer, songwriter, and author, has died at 79 from Parkinson’s disease at his home in Texas. A close friend of Willie Nelson, Friedman was known for satirical, often controversial songs like “Sold American” and “They Ain’t Makin’ Jews Like Jesus Anymore”, as well as his witty detective novels.

Beyond music and writing, he made waves in politics with his 2006 run for Texas governor as an independent, championing same-sex marriage, marijuana legalization, and anti-corruption. In later years, Friedman focused on animal rescue at his Utopia Ranch while continuing to write and record. He leaves behind a legacy of humor, boldness, and cultural influence.
