Actor Val Kilmer, known for roles in Batman Forever, Top Gun, and The Doors, has died at 65, his daughter confirmed. He passed away from pneumonia in Los Angeles.
Diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014, Kilmer underwent a tracheotomy that affected his voice and career. He shared his journey in his memoir I’m Your Huckleberry and the documentary Val. His final film appearance was in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), where AI was used to assist with his voice.
Tributes poured in from Hollywood, with Heat director Michael Mann praising his talent, and actors like Josh Gad and Josh Brolin remembering him as an icon and creative force.
Kilmer is survived by his two children from his marriage to actress Joanne Whalley.
May he rest in peace.
