Billy Joel’s Health Battle Forces Cancellation Of 17-Show Tour Across U.S. and U.K.

Singer Billy Joel, 76, has cancelled all scheduled concerts after being diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), a brain disorder common among older adults. Joel’s condition, which affects balance, hearing, and vision, worsened after recent performances.

Following doctors’ advice, he is undergoing physical therapy and refraining from live shows to focus on recovery. Joel expressed gratitude for the care he is receiving and thanked fans for their support, hoping to return to the stage in the future.

NPH symptoms include walking difficulties, memory problems, and emotional changes. While its causes are not fully understood, it may be linked to other brain conditions. Treatment often involves surgery with a shunt device, rather than medication.
