A massive collision on the Mexico-Querétaro Highway at KM 059+000 brought traffic to a standstill after a trailer failed to brake and slammed into five cars and a pickup near the Jorobas intersection. The trailer ended up blocking all three north-south lanes, forcing a partial highway closure.
Slick roads from heavy rain may have contributed to the crash. Authorities are investigating.
Minor injuries were reported, with paramedics urging some victims to seek hospital evaluation as a precaution.
In a separate incident, a tanker trailer spilled fuel at KM 95.5 near Soyaniquilpan de Juárez, causing a complete highway shutdown in that area and major traffic delays.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and use extreme caution in wet conditions.
