FBI agent Jonathan Buma, a known critic of the Trump administration, has been arrested for allegedly leaking sensitive information — including documents related to a foreign nation’s weapons of mass destruction program.
Authorities claim Buma printed and distributed more than 130 confidential files in October 2023. Some of the leaked material, sourced from protected informants, later appeared in media reports.
The timing of the leaks coincided with Buma’s reported plans to publish an autobiographical book, raising serious concerns about national security and the integrity of FBI operations.
Critics, including attorney Scott Horton, warn that the disclosures may have compromised active counterintelligence efforts, particularly those involving Russian interference.
