The Hunt family, owners of the Kansas City Chiefs, is grieving the death of 9-year-old Janie Hunt, a relative who died in the flash floods that devastated Camp Mystic in Texas. She was among 27 girls and staff killed when rising waters overwhelmed the Christian summer camp.

Janie’s death has drawn national attention to the tragedy, which has claimed at least 82 lives across central Texas. Tavia Hunt, wife of Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt, shared a deeply emotional message on social media, questioning how faith endures such unimaginable loss and asking for prayers for all affected families.

Camp Mystic, home to 750 girls at the time of the flood, had served generations of families since 1926. The disaster has sparked growing concerns about emergency preparedness at youth camps and the speed of local response systems.

Recovery efforts are ongoing, with multiple children still missing.
