The cause of death for Jessica Aber, 43, the former Biden-appointed U.S. Attorney for Virginia, has been confirmed more than five months after she was found dead in her home. The medical examiner ruled she died in her sleep from sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), a rare complication of the neurological disorder. Authorities had found no signs of foul play, and her family later confirmed she had long suffered from seizures.
Aber served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2021 until earlier this year, overseeing hundreds of prosecutions. She handled major cases including leaks of classified documents, illegal exports to Russia, and the war crimes indictment of Russian soldiers. She also gained attention for prosecuting the mother of a 6-year-old who shot his teacher.
