Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino announced sweeping results from “Operation Summer Heat,” a nationwide crackdown launched in June targeting violent crime, gangs, and fraud. In an update shared on X, Bongino said the operation has led to 6,328 arrests, nearly 1,700 firearms seized, and the identification or recovery of 770 children. Major busts included the takedown of gang activity in cities like Seattle, New York, Tampa, and New Orleans—with one Florida gang accused of PPP loan fraud totaling $236,000 and alleged ties to the Sinaloa Cartel.
Bongino praised the collaboration between federal and local agencies, saying efforts like these show the FBI’s “dedication and vigilance.” He also revealed that a hidden room containing records from James Comey’s tenure had recently been discovered, with materials now under review for declassification. “You’re going to be stunned,” he said, hinting at forthcoming revelations tied to the former FBI leadership.
