KENTUCKY SHOCKWAVE: DEMOCRAT SENATOR DEFECTS TO GOP IN COAL COUNTRY REVOLT

In a stunning blow to Kentucky Democrats, State Senator Robin Webb has officially switched parties, leaving the Democrats to join the GOP after blasting her former party for abandoning working-class Americans. Representing eastern Kentucky’s coal-mining region, Webb said the Democratic Party’s “lurch to the left” and “hostility toward rural livelihoods” left her no choice but to walk away.

Her defection deepens the Democratic collapse in one of America’s reddest states and strengthens GOP dominance in the legislature. Once a conservative Democrat bridging urban and rural voters, Webb now says she’ll fight for “freedom, family, and opportunity” alongside Republicans. The move underscores a national trend — longtime Democrats across rural America declaring, “I didn’t leave the party — the party left me.”
