The shocking murder of Charlie Kirk sent shockwaves worldwide, leaving countless people grieving — including actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Her emotional comments about his death sparked both praise and anger, especially after she appeared to show empathy toward a man whose political beliefs clashed sharply with her own. Now, Curtis has spoken out to clarify what she meant.
Speaking tearfully on Marc Maron’s podcast, Curtis admitted she “disagreed with him on almost every point” but still called Kirk “a man of faith,” adding that she hoped he “felt connected to God” in his final moments. Critics accused her of “praising” the conservative activist, but Curtis told Variety that her words were misunderstood. “It was a mistranslation,” she explained. “I wasn’t defending him — I was acknowledging his faith.” She went on to condemn the online backlash, saying society no longer allows nuance: “You can’t hold two ideas at once anymore. You’re either for or against — and that’s destroying empathy.”
