TWO POLICE OFFICERS SHOT IN SOUTHGATE

Two Southgate, Michigan police officers were shot in the line of duty Thursday afternoon while responding to a call about a man waving a weapon at an apartment complex.

20-year-old Jeremiah Christian Kemp opened fire on officers, hitting both in the leg

He then jumped out a second-story window, cut off his court-ordered tether, and fled

A four-hour manhunt followed, involving over 75 officers, K9s, and air support

He was caught hiding in an apartment — unclear if he was harbored

Both officers are hospitalized and are expected to recover

Court records show Kemp had multiple tickets since March — yet was still free and armed.

This is what happens when criminals walk the streets, emboldened, while politicians tie the hands of law enforcement.
