A shooter attacked Annunciation Church in south Minneapolis Wednesday morning, killing three—including two children aged 8 and 10—and injuring 17 others, many of them schoolchildren. The attacker, 23-year-old transgender woman Robin Westman, then killed herself.
Westman, formerly known as Robert, grew up in nearby Richfield. Police said she carried a shotgun, rifle, and pistol, firing deliberately at the victims. Most injured children, ages 6–15, are expected to recover. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey condemned attacks on the transgender community and emphasized focusing on the victims. The FBI is investigating the incident as a potential domestic terrorism and hate crime targeting Catholics.
