Graham Greene, the Canadian actor best known for his Oscar-nominated role as Kicking Bird in Dances with Wolves, died Monday in Toronto after a long illness. He was 73.
A trailblazer for Indigenous actors, Greene built a decades-long career spanning film, TV, and stage, appearing in The Green Mile, Maverick, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Longmire, and The Last of Us. He also won a Grammy, a Gemini, a Canadian Screen Award, and earned a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2021. He is survived by his wife, Hilary Blackmore, and daughter, Lilly.
