Israel launched unprecedented airstrikes on Qatar, targeting Hamas’ senior leadership in Doha and sparking fears of wider regional instability. Explosions rocked the capital as civilians ran for cover, while the IDF said it carried out “precise strikes” against top Hamas officials, including Gaza chief Khalil al-Hayya.
Doha denounced the attack as a “cowardly” violation of international law, with Iran also condemning it. Reports conflicted over whether Hamas leaders Khalil al-Hayya and Khaled Mashal were killed. Israel confirmed the U.S. was notified in advance, a sensitive point given America’s largest Middle East base is located in Qatar.
