Progressive TikTok ‘Star’ Gets Crushed In Election Bid

Progressive influencer Deja Foxx was soundly defeated in Arizona’s 7th District, losing by more than 40 points to Adelita Grijalva. Despite 400,000 TikTok followers and endorsements from David Hogg and progressive groups, Foxx drew just 21% while Grijalva, backed by top Democrats and carrying her father’s political legacy, won with 62%. The race showed that social media clout couldn’t overcome decades of local roots and establishment support.

In New York, progressives are now eyeing House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Fresh off Zohran Mamdani’s stunning mayoral primary win over Andrew Cuomo, Democratic Socialists are weighing challenges against Jeffries and other city Democrats. Jeffries’ team has warned of a “forceful” pushback, setting the stage for another major party fight.
