Around 7 a.m. on Thursday, police responded to reports of an active shooter at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy, located 24 miles north of Detroit. Authorities issued a shelter-in-place order as hospital employees barricaded themselves inside. The victim, a 25-year-old man, was shot twice in the arm but is in stable condition after receiving treatment. Early reports suggest the incident was a “targeted attack” in which a hospital employee fired at a co-worker, discharging five shots in the parking lot and striking a nearby vehicle. A large-scale manhunt ensued, and the suspect was eventually arrested at a home in Macomb Township after surrendering to police officers who contacted him by phone.
