Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker fired back at President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance during a fiery appearance on ABC’s This Week, daring the president to “come and get me” after Trump suggested that Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson “should be in jail” for allegedly failing to protect ICE officers.
Calling Trump a “34-time convicted felon” and accusing his administration of “threatening to jail political opponents,” Pritzker declared he wasn’t afraid to stand up for his state. He accused the administration of “unconstitutional actions” and urged both Democrats and Republicans to unite against what he described as federal overreach. Even some GOP governors, he noted, have voiced concern over Trump’s deployment of troops across state lines. Despite Trump’s history of targeting his critics, Pritzker stood firm, saying, “You are dead wrong, Mr. President — and I will stand up for the law.”
