Pope Leo XIV Makes History as First American Pontiff
On May 8, 2025, Cardinal Robert Prevost became Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope and 267th leader of the Roman Catholic Church. Speaking from St. Peter’s Basilica, he opened with a call for peace, unity, and hope, touching hearts around the world.

Paying tribute to Pope Francis, he vowed to continue his legacy and urged believers to confront division with faith and compassion. Quoting Saint Augustine, he envisioned a Church that is inclusive, missionary, and close to the suffering.
