At Houston International Airport, Shadow, a trained K9 German Shepherd, began barking at a pregnant woman in line. Though her bags were clear, Shadow wouldn’t stop alerting.
Just as officers considered letting her go, Agent Grant recalled Shadow’s medical alert training. Medics were called, and it turned out the woman had a rare and life-threatening uterine rupture.
She was rushed to the hospital and gave birth prematurely. Thanks to Shadow, both mother and baby survived.
Days later, Shadow and his handler visited the grateful mom, receiving heartfelt thanks for saving two lives.
